Third Thursday Colloquy #006
How does an idea turn into an action?
Bring in the new year with a conversation about creation: ideas, process, and creative dilemmas.
Sinae Park (Graphic Designer)
Ian McClellan (Director)
Ila Erickson (Fashion Designer)
Matt Nava (Creative Director, Giant Squid)
Sinae Park received her BFA in Illustration from Otis College of Art and Design, then switched her professional gears to fashion. She currently works in hybrid apparel as part of the Forever 21 team using her graphic design skills to develop products for men, juniors, girls, and boys. When she isn’t freelancing Sinae continues to illustrate and sculpt in her spare time.
Ian McClellan is in his 3rd year at the USC School of Cinematic Arts MFA program with a focus on comedy directing in film and television. He has worked in reality (documentary) television, documentary and feature film, and video production, including work on the 2012 Sundance Grand-Jury winning film Beasts of the Southern Wild. When he’s not in school or on set he’s doing what he does while in school and on set – sipping a coffee while reading and writing.
Ila Erickson is the owner and creative director of Defila, an action sports line for heroic women. Ila moved from a ranch in Montana to attend Otis College of Art and Design. Over the past 10 years she’s traded in her horse for a motorcycle and wrestles people instead of cattle, winning multiple national championships as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practioner.
Matt Nava is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of Giant Squid, a small game development studio. Matt has twice been included in the Forbes 30 under 30 list of top game innovators. He and his team of 11 are currently working on their highly anticipated first project ABZÛ, an experiential underwater exploration game due for release this year.
