Third Thursday Colloquy #010
DRIVE – How do behavioral health professionals navigate through complicated social and personal issues?
Rajima Danish (Sr. Administrator with the Human Services Agency of Ventura County)
Sravan Kakani (Psychiatrist, UCLA)
As an analyst for the County of Ventura Human Services Agency Rajima Danish works to bring researched methods into practical application to better the quality of life of community members. An education in clinical psychology with work experience in research, evaluation, and report and web development have helped her hone an analytic approach rooted in social science theory and methods that is bolstered by information technology. Of particular interest to her is how to leverage available resources from public and private entities, champion data as a way to guide decisions, make improvements and cause action – not just report and inform, and turn evidence-based models into applied interventions to be used here and now. Current projects using this three-part approach to program development and evaluation include developing a community roadmap to end intergenerational cycles of poverty and a county-wide community health assessment to determine gaps in local wellness assets.
Sravan Kakani is a physician, training in the field of psychiatry, who primarily works with veterans throughout LA county. Sravan has a mix of educational experiences including teaching conversational English in South Korea and implementing medical record software for large hospital systems in the U.S. He is passionate about telemedicine and foreign languages. Sravan is originally from northern Alabama but has fully embraced the coastal lifestyle of southern California.
